Welcome to Dee’s Book and Comic Shop

HISTORY:

Dees Book and Comic Shop (Dee’s Comics) is a family owned business that has been serving the Canberra community for over 25 years.

First opening it’s doors at the Charnwood shops in 1988, Dee’s is Canberra’s oldest still operating specialist comic shop. Many of our customers from our Charnwood days are still with us today.

2 years later Dee’s moved into upstairs premises in our current location in Belconnen ACT.

Around 1992 we move downstairs between the Carpet shop (still here) and the Ice cream shop (now a coffee shop). Our 49 square meter shop was soon bursting at the seams!

In 2012 we moved to our current bigger shop, still within the ‘Belconnen Commercial Chambers’, but facing Cohen Street. Even with our bigger premises, the store is overloaded with an ever-expanding range of Comics, Graphic Novels, Collectibles and other comic book inspired awesomeness!!

In 2016 the torch was passed from one family to the another. With the retirement of original owners, Dee and Stuart, long time employee Brendon, and his family continued the ‘Dee’s’ legacy. Continuing to build on the things that have always made Dee’s special and unique, Brendon and Jolene are committed to making Dee’s better and better.

Brendon and Jolene’s passion for Australian produced and independent comics has led to Dee’s carrying a huge and quickly expanding range of amazing domestically produced comics and graphic novels.

In 2017, partnering with Gamma.con, Canberra’s own pop culture convention, Dee’s proudly presented the first ‘Oz Comic Creator Zone’ at the convention to an overwhelmingly enthusiastic and positive reception. Bringing an all-star line-up of Australian creators to Canberra for the first time, Dee’s were very proud to be able to showcase some of the spectacular homegrown talent Australia has to offer.
